I joined Black Bears in 2019 as an investor.
But the team’s performance looked so inspiring to me that I couldn't remain
just a passive observer.
And I got involved.

Black Bears is not about business only.
This is also the development of local
technical education, job opportunities
for students, and creating an urban
technological cluster.

Our Teddy Bears - that’s the way we affectionately refer to our project as well as to the invaluable people who work in there.

OF MAPL (MOSCOW ACADEMY OF PRACTICAL
LINGUISTICS), THE OFFLINE LANGUAGE
SCHOOLS’ NETWORK
MAPL originated from
the TV show "Polyglot,"
which is a popular language
learning television series.
The host is the renowned
linguist Dmitry Petrov, the
author of a unique method
for accelerated language
learning. After the success
of the TV show, the Petrov
family created the offline
language school network
MAPL, now led by
Ilian Petrov.
I entered the project as a
co-founder, my duties are
business model and
strategical marketing.
During the pandemic, it became obvious that the online language learning services have incredible prospects
And here
an ambitious goal arose
- to create
an international online
language learning
service based
on the MAPL
methodology.

Today I am a member
of the Partners Council,
responsible for the business model,
profitability, and development.

I am also involved in Supply Chain
management, development
of legal documents, and optimisation
of the production model.

Plenty of tasks, but they all are exciting.
I collaborate with passionate,
sincere people.
And our collective performance helps me grow
as an entrepreneur, and as a person.
In 2020, I became
one of the shareholders of the company.

I opened my first pizzeria to gain experience in a field new for me - the food service industry.

The experience turned out to be successful, and now we have nineteen pizzerias in six cities in our network. Some of them we have built ourselves, while others were acquired from fellow franchisees.

Managing pizzerias located
thousands of kilometres apart in
different cities is challenging.

Growth at that pace is possible
due to a strong franchise,
and the cohesive work of the team.

My tasks

My main duty remains to be a building a strong team capable of managing a network remotely over a distance of more than 6000 kilometers.

And it seems that I have succeeded in this role - the management system is in place, while I focus on other projects.

Nevertheless, I always keep my finger on the pulse and monitor our development and key performance indicators.

The plans are to build 4 more pizza restaurants, and to establish production and distribution centres in each city of presence.

Despite COVID-19 and other disruptions, we are growing confidently, and our average like-for-like (LFL) for the past 3 years never dropped below 30%.

In 2002 , we launched the
grocery retailer
called "Econom".

Thanks to successfully chosen discount store concept, the network displayed confident growth rates. In a short period of time, we expanded to 35 stores and successfully operated in the Tambov region.

The network operated until the second half of the 2000s and was sold to the market leader.

In 2007, I decided to try myself in the automotive business, and created a service that sold used cars and spare parts, globus-trade.ru.We were among the first ones who began using internet
as the main sales channel.
2012
In 2012, I acquired an accounting agency and developed it into a large accounting online service called buhburo1.ru.In 2018, the business was sold.
The office continues operating successfully
till today.
When I bought SPA-complex I understood pretty soon that SPA-services needed online-aggregator. That’s how the project vsaunah.ru. was born.This service appeared in 2014 and quickly became popular.The aggregator was sold in 2018.

The fintech retail lending service
СС “Finopora”
was established
in 2015..It was an interesting experience, not only as a business but also in a sense of psychology. The service was sold in 2018 and continues to operate today.
